Sinai expeditions for the deaf & HOH

The Silent Desert

Hidden deep in the the sinia peninsula lives as a special group of Bedouin with a hereditary hearing condition, meaning that by adult hood "most of the tribe" have developed some kind of hearing loss, often profound.

MCX has crossed the Sinai on many occasions assisted by this tribe, have developed tools and methods to overcome their hearing loss and exist in the desert environment.

In 2024 we are proposing to bring together a team of deaf and HOH people from the UK to join with members of this tribe for a ten day trek across the desert and mountains of the Sinai. This journey will be challenging on many levels - finding solutions to working together, communicating and undertaking the physical challenge of multi day trekking.
